The “R.E.A.L Time Rehousing” initiative by Housing Forward, launched in October 2021, aims to address homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties. It began with a goal to rehouse over 2,700 individuals, leveraging funds from the American Rescue Plan Act and private donations, totaling $72 million. The program focuses on Rapid Rehousing, providing temporary and permanent subsidies, increasing Case Manager positions, forming a Landlord Engagement Team, and decommissioning encampments. The 2023 Point-in-Time count showed significant decreases in chronic and unsheltered homelessness. The initiative has secured additional funding to expand its reach to 6,000 individuals by 2025, integrating various housing solutions and support services.
